   BESAN KA POORA

 

'Besan Ka Poora' or Besan Cheela also called as Gram Flour Utthapam is one of those healthy and quick dishes which can be made as breakfast or snacky snack. It's a hit amongst kids too. You can be tummy full without adding on kilos :)

                                         

 

You would require :-

Besan ( Gram Flour) - 1 cup

Water

Salt to taste

Red chilli powder - a pinch

Fresh Green Chilli (chopped) - 2

Ginger (finely cut) - 1tsp

Asfoetida powder (optional) - a pinch

Raw Onion (chopped) - 1

Jeera (cumin seeds) - 1 tsp

Ajwain - 1/2 tsp

Vegetable oil - 1 tsp (only for greasing)

Lets proceed to make it :-

In a wide clean dry bowl, take besan, add all the ingredients. Add water till consistency is thin, but avoid making it too watery. Whisk the mixture for a few minutes so that everything is completely mixed and no clumps. 

In a cool non stick pan, grease the base with a drop or two of oil and pour some batter from the side. Lift the pan and rotate it on either side till all of it is smoothly and regularly smerared. Now put the pan on high flame and wait till the bottom of the poora is completely cooked. You may know that once the sides start popping out.

(If you like crispy, then allow it for a few more seconds) 

Turn the poora upside down using a flat spatula , to allow cooking of the other side too.

Once both the sides are lightly brown, Thats all about it.

Serve hot along with pudina (mint) chutney or tomato ketchup. Makes 4 poora's.
