Heya! In this brand conscious tinsel town, its was hard to keep up with my simplicity coming from an upper Punjabi family, then down south in Chennai where life is too easy and casual and back again in this world of ''brand conscious''
My attempt to uncover the brand which are not so branded and also a substitute for GK and Sarojini market here in Ggn.
Have a look ...
Qutab plaza market sells all kinds of sarojini stuff but a lil expensive than there.
Arjun marg market for fake brands at dlf phase 1 near colonel kebab
Beauty @ your doorstep: beauty express 9911021102
Check this Arjun Marg market @ Dlf 1, for non branded/ export surplus .
Vyapar kendra for all our daily and not so daily needs. From tailoring/ minor alterations/ cobbler/ fruits and veggies/ stationary and footwear... you name a thing and its available there. Don't go by appearance, its crowded, cramped parking, dingy, confusing by lanes , but worth it!
Check out shops selling designer readymade saree blouses. Donot forget to carry your boutique saree to match with a similar blouse at a much affordable price!
Supermart I, for eateries, junk, stationary and few salons (four seasons) too :)
Galleria being my fav, amongst all.. though not much to hop practically, but a good evening out. Just chill , sit by the fountain and watch passerby..
you will love it, after all, there are not many out door places in tis IT city :D
With full page ads in various newspaper mentioning offers/ discounts of numerous items, i decided to go on grocery shopping. Used to o to Reliance mart @ Dt mega mall @ Golf course road. It has amazing discounts and offers (buy 1 get 1 types). I generally pick up and stock for about a month.
Apart from that , DT mega mall offers something for everyone. A one stop shop for kids, Dezine kids. You name a thing and its available there, from national to international brands. Though i prefer shopping online, but at times, in emergency pick up from there as well.
Also, if you fond of Chinese (the authentic one), raw material for the same can be picked up from a shop at this mall. Around 10 types and sizes of mushrooms, pak choi, etc.
Recently, while hop shopping at various Durga puja pandals, came across a stall, who sells readymade petticoat and padded designer blouses at Vyapar Kendra. I loved their collection!
Avoid Auchan Market , hyper store @ MG road. Most of the products are priced at MRP. No point. Guess, spencer, Reliance are better options.
Still searching for a perfect boutique for ready made into western garments, and here is a list of few of them and my personal experience with them..
Kynaa @ dlf phase1, nice stuff, ready to pick and customization as well. did buy one gown from there, over priced. dealing changes drastically once payment made, which was a big time turn off. Had ordered a customized piece for the existing gown in rack. was promised, ditto same thing, but after a few weeks told, money cannot be refunded, same lace, same color , same material not available,,, take a call from the said alternatives :(
Manpreet Kaur @ Nirvana... mainly into customization. Did have a few , very few ready to pick pieces and un necessarily over priced. A cotton plain skirt priced at 8500/-.. bull shit!
Called her over 10 times for directions to her place, and she said ''ask someone, i am bad at them'', what non sense. later on just put her phone off. it took me over 30 minutes to locate the place.
tiramisu@ dlf phase 1, very arrogant lady, had only a few sample pieces, just gives an imagination that too only in air for the ultimate piece she would dress.. not happy!
Kaynaaz, Dlf phase 1 - nice lady, dealt and attended nicely. has a few ready, mainly into customization. mixed range, can think of going back to her for some customization though.
Chetna @ Nirvana. Had smart only cotton wear, expensive indian wear. Can try if you are into semi formals/ cottons
Export surplus clothes being sold at a name of original designer pieces from designer houses in Bombay. I don't understand the fact, if you are selling export, why not boldly say the same. Guess majority of people from Delhi are well verse with this terminology (having spent most of their college days picking up the cheapest and the trendiest outfit in town from janpath, sarojini and Lajpath nagar markets). These are the most famous hubs. To add to the fact, that even Goa has similar stuff and all source it from Delhi. So, no pointing faking it all. If someone has to buy, has to buy. The very particular clientele will definitely not visit such places and prefer picking up from malls/ exclusive stores no matter what it takes!
On the contrary, i like this lady Shilpa, and really appreciate her selling similar export surplus from her house in South City 1. Frank to the core, does bargain a bit, soft attitude and mentions it on her boards - 'branded export surplus'
Toddler Tunnel another one in phase 5, into kids clothing specifically. Have been visiting her in the past, competitive prices (trust me i have compared her prices with first cry/ amazon/ pearls galleria). Does not bargain, cotton casual regular wear. Most of her clothes are under 500 Rs. One of her pieces bled (brand new one) and was kind enough to take it back and offer a refund.
Pearls @ Galleria market.... all baby stuff under one roof, most of the mothers (atlas whom i come in contact with) do buy from here, good quality, regular clothing. Do not expect bargains but yes, do expect lot of crowd in an otherwise small shop making shopping a lil task specially when along with a baby in arms.
A friend recently recommended Genius Junior @ Supermart 1. Casual cloths for kids and very reasonably priced. Did pick up a few sets.
For a big variety in export surplus for women and kids Hongkong market is the place and if looking for mens wear then nothing can beat Qutub Plaza market, phase 1.
Modern Bazar @ Qutub Plaza.. thanks to the same friend (my lo friends mom, a neighbour, school mate) once again. Anything related food under the sky ... from spices, frozen foods...cosmetics to canned foods .. breads to bakery..all is available here.
Yet another place same as above is Le Marche, also catering to the needs of Japanese and Koreans (expats) in a big way.
Festivities, celebrations on the way? Head to none other than Gold Souk for all your jewellery related concerns and purchases. Skip hopping from one shop to another in car, A full fledged mall for just the jewels, a wide variety and options is what you will get here.
There is a sole so called designer boutique , Prachi Studio at its second floor, checked it out yesterday with mom [06-09-15] and returned back highly disappointed. Old, really old and boring designs.
Sardar ji's curtain hi curtain shop has become my one stop shop for upholstery needs. I have never disclosed to my husband as he is very peculiar and would not mind paying extra thousands to get the same at a bigger branded shop, after all i'm the lady of the house, and have to curb extra expenses to save on myself a pretty gift
QUALITY and size not compromised, huge variety but only readymades, dohars and ac quilts. decent price.
Getting certificates notorized here in gurgaon - was a task after coming from a small town where things and people are much more approachable. But this contact will help you with yours : There is one across the road from Baani Square, Sector 50. I don't remember the name but it has a very big banner so it will be visible from Hilton Hotel
Curtains - i was on a lookout for smart curtains for my newly shifted house simultaneously not heavy on pocket because i'm a type of person who likes a change after a while. Hence stumbled upon this shop called curtains hi curtains owned by sardarji in the basement of vyapar kendra.
With all those young moms, would agree the importance of dress rentals specially with upcoming festivals like halloween and garba - vyapar kendra ff, 9990766366
